On December 11, 2013 Central Bank of Russia approved the graphic symbol of ruble in the form of a Cyrillic capital letter “R”, supplemented by a horizontal line.
Approval of the symbol is one of the functions of Bank of Russia in accordance with Article 4 of the Federal Law “On the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (Bank of Russia).”
The public discussion on symbol was held from November 5 to December 5, 2013 on the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
